Easter in the Era of BLM

April 2, 2021January 8, 2023 / Stephen / Leave a comment

While attending church services the Sunday after Easter, also known as the Second Easter Sunday, I heard what was common for such on occasion and that was a sermon rooted in the New Testament story of doubting Thomas.  My pastor stated in his sermon that Thomas was the only one to whom Jesus revealed himself … Continue reading Easter in the Era of BLM

Where shall I see you this summer!? Covenant School My attempt at being “trendy” while staying “on brand.” Today we visited the Cloisters to take in some medieval art and early Church reliquaries. As winter says goodbye this was the only opportunity I had this season to break out my snowshoes. Jesse DeForest was my 12th-great-grandfather. It began with 30 French Huguenot families, who had sought refuge in an embattled Holland, and led by Jesse DeForest settling what is now the island of Manhattan. His daughter Rachel, married to Lt. Governor Dr. Jean De La Montagne, was said to have revive a Catholic holiday and a rough Sinterklaas (Feast of St. Nicholas) to the island. Jesse DeForest never loved to see this, he died that same year 1624 in Guyana. A relationship I share—with Teddy Roosevelt. Believe or not, this Jersey had never been to the Jersey Shore until this past weekend. When I was a kid, “going to the shore” meant going to Maine, a tradition which I have kept. It was a cold and windy which meant I mostly had the beach to myself. 😂 Glad to have finally made it to see the revitalized Pacific Northwest Hall at the American Museum of Natural History with the inclusion and consultation of indigenous voices. I first developed an interest in history when I was a child, we were digging to pour a cement foundation for my basketball hoop in the backyard when we unearthed a small stone mortar. Born in a cabin behind the family’s general store was the unlikely 30th President of the United States Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933). His presidency was marked by corruption fighting, small government fiscal conservatism to the point of austerity, major depression following the death of his son Calvin Jr. Click the link in my linkin.bio for a documentary video on his life and legacy. Today, I marched with Marist College where I began my undergraduate studies in 1997 and graduated in 2018 (attending UVM from 1999 to 2002), and it such a fun, memorable experience.
